Our Mission

RateMyAccom exists to provide authentic, trustworthy accommodation reviews by students, for students. Every review helps future students make informed housing decisions.

βœ… What Makes a Great Review

Personal Experience

Write about your genuine experience living in the accommodation. Share specific details that help others understand what it's really like.

Balanced & Honest

Include both positives and negatives. No place is perfect! Honest feedback helps students make better decisions.

Specific Details

Mention specific aspects: cleanliness, location, facilities, maintenance, noise levels, value for money, social atmosphere, etc.

Respectful Language

Be critical but respectful. Avoid offensive language, personal attacks, or discriminatory comments.

Photos & Evidence

Add authentic photos or videos when possible. Visual evidence helps other students see what the accommodation really looks like.

❌ What's Not Allowed

Fake or Second-Hand Reviews

Only review places you've personally lived in. Never review based on hearsay or on behalf of others.

Sponsored or Paid Reviews

Never accept payment, discounts, or incentives for reviews. All reviews must be unbiased and independent.

Offensive Content

No profanity, hate speech, discriminatory language, threats, or harassment. Be respectful to all.

Personal Information

Never share phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, or other private information about individuals.

Spam or Irrelevant Content

Stay on topic. Don't post promotional content, links to other sites, or irrelevant information.

Manipulating Ratings

Don't post multiple reviews for the same place, coordinate with others to inflate/deflate ratings, or create fake accounts.

  • All reviews are screened by AI and human moderators before going live
  • Reviews that violate guidelines will be removed
  • Users can report reviews they believe violate guidelines
  • Repeat violations may result in account suspension or permanent ban

πŸ“Έ Photo & Video Guidelines

  • Photos must be taken by you and show the actual accommodation
  • Don't include identifiable people without their consent
  • Keep photos appropriate and relevant to the accommodation
  • Avoid photos with personal information visible (documents, screens, etc.)
  • Maximum 5 photos/videos per review

If you see a review that violates these guidelines:

  • Select the reason for reporting
  • Our moderation team will investigate within 48 hours
